Air Service

Only a 30 minute drive from the southern border of Henry County, the Piedmont Triad International Airport located in Greensboro, North Carolina makes air travel convenient. In addition to this major commercial airport, Martinsville-Henry County also offers a regional, executive airport -Blue Ridge Regional Airport -which features a 5,000 foot jet stressed lighted runway.

 

Highway System

Martinsville-Henry County's close proximity to 4 interstates Highway Systemmakes it an ideal location for business. Interstates 40, 73, 77, 81, and 85 are all within 50 miles of the community. I-40 runs East-West from Wilmington, NC to California; I-77 connects Columbia, SC to Cleveland and the Midwest; I-81 runs North-South from Syracuse, NY to Knoxville, TN; and I-85 connects Petersburg, VA south to Montgomery, AL. Two four-lane highways connect the community to the interstate system and larger metro areas: US-220, which runs North-South from Waverly, NY to Rockingham, NC and US-58, running East-West from Virginia Beach, VA to the Virginia-Tennessee border. Railway System

Martinsville-Henry County industry is served by Norfolk Southern Railways, one of the nation's premier transportation companies. Norfolk Southern operates approximately 21,000 route miles in 22 states and the District of Columbia, serves every major container port in the eastern United States, and provides superior connections to western rail carriers. Norfolk Southern operates the most extensive intermodal network in the East and is North America's largest rail carrier of metals and automotive products.

 

The Port of Virginia

The Port of Virginia, located in the greater Norfolk metro area comprises three marine terminals and one intermodal container transfer facility: Norfolk International Terminals, Portsmouth Marine Terminal, Newport News Marine Terminal, and the Virginia Inland Port. These facilities are located approximately 225 miles from Martinsville-Henry County, and are easily accessible by truck or rail.
